Church of Saint Carlo Acutis, The First Millennial Saint

A Young Life of Faith

Carlo Acutis was born on 3 May 1991 in London and raised in Milan, Italy. From childhood, he showed an extraordinary love for the Holy Eucharist and the Rosary. He attended Mass daily and believed deeply that “The Eucharist is my highway to Heaven.”

Faith in the Digital Age

Carlo combined his strong faith with his passion for technology. Skilled in computers, he created a website that documented Eucharistic miracles across the world, making Catholic teaching more accessible to people online. For this reason, he is fondly remembered as the “patron saint of the internet.”

His Final Days

At just 15 years old, Carlo was diagnosed with acute leukemia. Despite his suffering, he offered his pain for the Pope and the Church. He passed away on 12 October 2006 in Monza, Italy. His simple yet profound faith continues to inspire millions, especially young people.

Path to Sainthood

  • 2018: Declared Venerable by Pope Francis.
  • 2020: Beatified in Assisi, following a miracle attributed to him.
  • 2025: Canonized on 7 September by Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican, making him the first millennial saint.

A Church in His Name

On the day of his canonization, the world’s first Church dedicated to St. Carlo Acutis was blessed at Pallikkara, Kakkanad, Kerala, India. The consecration was led by Archbishop of Verapoly, Dr. Joseph Kalathiparambil.

Legacy

Carlo Acutis’ life is a testimony that holiness is possible even in today’s modern, digital world. His deep faith, lived joyfully in ordinary life, continues to inspire young Catholics to love the Eucharist and live their faith authentically.
